Ombudsman Metropool Amsterdam

About the Ombudsman About the Ombudsman

“Together with all the stakeholders, we are working on a continuously improving government we can all believe in.”

Resolving complaints about the government

Ombudsman Metropool Amsterdam is a government organization charged with resolving improper conduct and insufficient service by the municipal government when necessary and preventing it wherever possible.

If you are not satisfied with the service of (one of) the municipalities affiliated with us - for example, because a parking ticket was not rescinded, unemployment benefits were suspended or because no one is listening to you - you may file a complaint with Ombudsman Metropool Amsterdam.

Independent and subordinate to no one
Munish Ramlal, the Amsterdam metropolitan area’s ombudsman, and his deputy as well as Children’s Ombudsman Anne Martien van der Does are appointed by the municipal council. They operate completely independently from the municipal government and are subordinate to no one. What they may and may not do, is established in various codes & regulations.
